When to call the vet straight away

Some problems can't wait for a guide. Call your vet or an emergency clinic now if your cat:

  • Is straining to pee and little or nothing comes out, especially a male cat
  • Is breathing with an open mouth, or struggling to breathe
  • Has eaten something toxic, such as lilies, human medicines or antifreeze
  • Has collapsed, is very weak, or can't stand
  • Hasn't eaten for more than a day
